*Late field goal helps Texans douse Broncos*
HOUSTON (Ticker) -- The Houston Texans won their first preseason game, defeating the Denver Broncos, 19-16, on Saturday, but losing running back Ahman Green.
Green strained his right groin on Houston's first play from scrimmage after catching a five-yard pass from Matt Schaub. Nate Webster tackled Green, who rushed for 260 yards on 70 carries in only six games last season due to injury. Green limped off the field and is listed as day-to-day.
The game boiled down to field goals. Houston's Kris Brown hit four, including a game-winning 25-yarder with no time left on the clock, while Denver kicker Matt Prater connected from 38, 31 and 26 yards.
Schaub was 4-of-5 passing for 29 yards in leading the Texans to a 23-yard field goal in his only possession.
Jay Cutler finished 8-of-10 for 59 yards, capping the Broncos' second drive with a 15-yard touchdown run that gave Denver a 7-3 lead in the first quarter.
Denver suffered two injuries on the Texans' first drive. Linebacker Boss Bailey left with a sprained ankle and fellow linebacker Louis Green had to be taken off the field on a stretcher after suffering a neck injury and concussion.
After remaining on the field for 10 minutes, Green was lifted onto the stretcher and gave a thumbs-up as he was leaving the field. He was taken to an area hospital with movement in his hands.
