*Booty, Bollinger unimpressive as Vikings fall to Cowboys*

IRVING, Texas (Ticker) -- Rookie John David Booty may have earned a roster spot by default.

Booty was unimpressive in his final preseason game Thursday as the Minnesota Vikings fell, 16-10, to the Dallas Cowboys.

A fifth-round pick out of USC, Booty is competing with Brooks Bollinger for the third quarterback spot. He completed 8-of-15 passes for 93 yards and an interception. However, Bollinger was worse, completing 6-of-18 passes for 62 yards.

Rookie Albert Young rushed for 68 yards on 14 carries for the Vikings, who open the season at Green Bay on September 8.

Rookie Tashard Choice scored on an 11-yard run, and Nick Folk kicked three field goals for Dallas, which visits Cleveland on September 7. Folk connected on a 23-yarder and a pair of 52 yarders, including one as time expired in the second quarter to give the Cowboys a 13-7 lead at halftime.

Richard Bartel, who spent all of last season on the practice squad, made a good case for a roster spot by completing 28-of-41 passes for 233 yards.
